Permalink: Share Live Dashboards Without Handing Out a Login

Give clients, executives, and partners a live view of their reporting. No account to provision, no password to reset, and no PDF that's already stale by the time it lands in an inbox.

Share insights, not logins.

What is TapClicks Permalink?

TapClicks Permalink is a governed way to share a live, interactive dashboard with anyone outside your organization, no TapClicks login required. Administrators choose the dashboard, set the data scope, select View Only or Interactive access, and control the date range, visible sections, and expiration before generating the link.

The login barrier

Sharing recurring reporting with people outside your organization has traditionally meant choosing between two imperfect options: a full TapClicks account, or a static export that's outdated the moment it's generated.

Adoption friction

External viewers resist creating another login just to check a handful of numbers, so reporting goes unread.

Static workarounds

PDFs solve delivery, but the data is frozen the second it's generated and the recipient can't dig any deeper.

Access administration

Provisioning and maintaining accounts for hundreds of occasional viewers is overhead nobody actually wants.

How Permalink works

One person configures the experience. Anyone with the link can open it.

Admin creates the experience

  1. Selects the dashboard and sets the client or data scope
  2. Chooses View Only or Interactive access
  3. Optionally locks the date range
  4. Optionally limits which sections are visible
  5. Sets an expiration date
  6. Controls whether the link can be embedded
  7. Generates the Permalink

Viewer consumes the experience

  1. Opens the link directly
  2. No TapClicks login required
  3. Sees only the permitted dashboard and data
  4. Interacts only within the controls the creator set
  5. Exports where export is enabled

What you control before you share

Permalink is a governed distribution layer, not an open door. Every link inherits exactly the scope and permissions you set.

Client & data scope

Restrict the Permalink to the client or data set it should show, and nothing more.

View Only or Interactive

Lock the dashboard down, or let viewers explore within the bounds you set.

Date range locking

Show a fixed reporting period, or allow the viewer to change it themselves.

Section visibility

Share only the dashboard sections that are relevant to that recipient.

Expiration

Set a link to expire automatically so access doesn't outlive the reason it was created.

Embedding

Where enabled, drop a live Permalink into a client portal or external site.

Permalink, EZ Login, or Scheduled Report?

TapClicks gives you three ways to get reporting in front of people. Here's when to reach for each.

  Permalink EZ Login Scheduled Report
Best for External or occasional viewers who don't need a full account Known TapClicks users receiving scheduled reports Recurring delivery on a set cadence
Login required No login, ever One-click, tied to a known TapClicks user N/A, delivered as email or attachment
Data freshness Live, updates automatically Live, opens the platform directly Static snapshot at time of send
Typical recipient Clients, executives, advertisers, partners, franchisees Internal or known stakeholders on the schedule Anyone on the distribution list

Permalink FAQs

The questions administrators and their teams ask most before rolling Permalink out.

What is TapClicks Permalink?

Permalink lets TapClicks users share a live dashboard with external stakeholders through a direct link, without requiring the recipient to log in to TapClicks.

Does the recipient need a TapClicks account?

No. The recipient can access the shared dashboard directly through the Permalink, with no account, password, or login step required.

How is Permalink different from EZ Login?

EZ Login is intended for known TapClicks users receiving Scheduled Reports and authenticates a specific user through a one-click link. Permalink is intended for external or occasional viewers and doesn't require the recipient to have a TapClicks login at all.

How is Permalink different from a Scheduled Report?

Scheduled Reports automatically deliver reporting on a recurring schedule, typically as an email attachment. Permalink provides access to a live dashboard experience the recipient can open whenever they need it while the link stays active.

What's the difference between View Only and Interactive View?

View Only gives the recipient a controlled dashboard they can't modify. Interactive View lets them interact with supported controls, such as changing the date range, when the creator allows it.

Can I restrict a Permalink to a specific client or dashboard section?

Yes. A Permalink is created using the appropriate client or data scope, and you can limit the experience to selected sections so the recipient sees only what's relevant. Always verify the scope before sharing.

Can I set an expiration date?

Yes. Permalinks can be configured to expire so access is only available for the period you intend. Once expired, the link no longer works, and an authorized user can update, regenerate, or reactivate it where supported.

Can a Permalink be embedded?

Yes, where the configuration allows it, which is useful for displaying TapClicks reporting inside an external portal or customer-facing site.

Is Permalink the same as making a dashboard public?

Not exactly. Permalink creates a controlled external experience with configurable scope, date behavior, sections, interactivity, and expiration. But because the recipient doesn't authenticate individually, the link itself should still be treated as sensitive.

Is Permalink meant to replace TapClicks user accounts?

No. Authenticated accounts are still the right fit for anyone who needs platform navigation, role-based access, or regular use of TapClicks. Permalink is built for simplified, occasional dashboard consumption.
